About your trip

Today, on this crisp early November day, I got the chance to attend the Korean Ginseng Festival, held near Exit 7 at Hongdae Station—a vibrant area brimming with young people. This lively setting made Hongdae the perfect spot for the festival, which aims to introduce Ginseng to a broader, youthful audience from both Korea and abroad. One of the highlights for me was the energetic drum performance; it set such an exciting tone! I also loved getting hands-on with making my own kimchi, and as a bonus, I got to take home my freshly prepared batch—how amazing is that? There were many other engaging activities too, like ginseng fishing, ginseng wine-making, and a lucky draw for prizes. It was a fantastic opportunity for young people to connect with Korean culinary traditions, and for foreigners like me, it offered insight into the unique aspects of Korean culture where I’m studying, living, and working. The festival runs on November 1 and 2, so if you’re nearby, don’t miss out on the chance to experience it yourself! I look forward to more events like this in the future, and I can’t wait to keep exploring Korea’s rich cultural tapestry. TIP

The festival kicks off after 2 p.m., and with the weather a bit chilly, make sure to dress warmly!
