About your trip

I explored Wolmido Island, a beautiful coastal destination in Incheon, South Korea. Just a quick drive from Seoul, this vibrant island offers the perfect mix of natural beauty and lively attractions. As I arrived, I was immediately drawn to the seaside boardwalk, where I could feel the refreshing ocean breeze and watch the colorful fishing boats lining the harbor. One of the highlights was the Wolmi Theme Park. Although small, it’s packed with fun rides and activities. I couldn’t resist going on the Viking ship and the Ferris wheel, which gave me a stunning view of the entire island and the surrounding sea. The Ferris wheel was especially memorable because it let me see the cityscape of Incheon against the blue sea—it felt both peaceful and exciting. Afterward, I took a stroll through Wolmi Park. This traditional Korean-style garden was a welcome escape from the bustling theme park, with scenic trails, small ponds, and beautifully landscaped areas. The paths led up a small hill, and once I reached the top, I had another fantastic view of the ocean and city. For lunch, I tried some local seafood at one of the small restaurants along the boardwalk. Freshly prepared, the seafood dishes were delicious, and it felt great to enjoy my meal while watching the waves.

TIP

1. Best Time to Visit: Try to visit Wolmido in the late afternoon to enjoy a beautiful sunset over the sea and experience the island’s vibrant evening lights. 2. Getting There: If you’re coming from Seoul, take Subway Line 1 to Incheon Station, then grab a short bus ride or taxi to Wolmido Island for a quick and easy trip. 3. Wear Comfortable Shoes: The boardwalk and park paths can involve a lot of walking, especially if you plan to explore the hilly trails, so comfortable shoes are a must. 4. Try Korean Seafood: Wolmido is known for its fresh seafood, with many restaurants lining the coast. Don’t miss out on trying raw fish (회, “hwe”) and Korean-style seafood pancakes (전, “jeon”). 5. Watch Out for Strong Winds: The island can be windy, so bringing a light jacket is a good idea, especially in the evening or during the cooler months. 6. Bring a Camera or Phone: Wolmido has great spots for photos, from scenic ocean views to theme park rides, so make sure to capture the beautiful moments. 7. Check Theme Park Hours: Wolmido’s theme park is small but full of fun rides. Check the operating hours ahead of time to make sure you can fit it into your schedule.
