I love historical places. And after visiting Andong Hahoe Village, it became my favorite place in all of South Korea! It’s a village that’s over 600 years old and when you enter it feels like you’ve been transported to the Joseon Era because everything is so well preserved! Not only are there traditional Korean houses, but the local people’s traditions are also maintained, with Hahoe masks and folklore performances of great social significance! You can take a day trip from Seoul, watch the folklore performance (always at 2pm) and take a tour in English (lasting 1h30) to get to know the village. But if you have the opportunity, I recommend sleeping in one of the village’s traditional houses so you can experience what it’s like to sleep like people did in the Joseon Era. And of course, try the famous local dish, jjimdak. It’s delicious!
KTX from Seoul Cheongnyangni Station (takes 2 hours, KRW 25,000), taki a taxi from the station to the Andong Hahoe Village (+ KRW20,000), village ticket (around KRW 5,000), jjimdak meal (+ KRW 30,000 for 2 or 3 people), at the end you can go back to the KTX station by a village bus (check the time schedule previously)
