I joined a special cultural day trip to Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do, hoping to dive deeper into Korean traditions— and it turned out to be one of the most enriching experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment we arrived, the entire day was filled with creativity, connection, and cultural discovery. One of the most meaningful moments of the day was finally getting to try pottery making — something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Sitting at the wheel, shaping clay with my own hands I felt both focused and calm. It was a beautiful, hands-on connection to Korean tradition. After the workshop, we attended the International Pottery Symposium, where we even got to meet the mayor of Gwangju and take photos with him! It was inspiring to hear how the city embraces ceramics as part of its cultural identity. In the afternoon, I had so much fun trying out traditional Korean games and wearing a hanbok — an experience that made me feel like I’d stepped back in time. The day ended with a vibrant parade and concert, bursting with music, lights, and joy. Everyone was cheering and celebrating together — it truly felt like being part of something special. I’m so grateful to @fundaykoreanetworks for allowing me to join this event. From learning new skills to celebrating cultural heritage, this trip reminded me just how powerful shared experiences can be.
