Our day began with a warm welcome from our tour planners and fellow travelers. After about an hour’s drive, we arrived in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do, to attend the vibrant Gwangju Royal Ceramics Festival. The moment we stepped into the festival grounds, we were captivated by the stunning pottery creations crafted by local artisans. Their beauty compelled us to purchase some as souvenirs for ourselves and our loved ones. We also got the chance to try our hand at pottery-making, guided by skilled experts who shared their inspiring journeys and dedication to the art. A major highlight of the day was the Royal Parade. Not only did we get to witness it, but we also had the opportunity to wear traditional Korean hanboks and take part in the procession. The day concluded with lively concerts and plays performed by local artists, showcasing the cultural and historical significance of pottery in the Gwangju region. Overall, the Gwangju Royal Ceramics Festival was a deeply enriching experience that reminded me of the value of preserving traditional arts. It gave me a newfound appreciation for the talented artisans who continue to promote Korean pottery both locally and internationally.
