From April 25 to May 6, 2025, the 28th Gwangju Royal Ceramics Festival will take place at Gonjiam Ceramic Park (곤지암도자공원). Korea is famous not only for its celadon with its delicate blue-green hues but also for the pure white porcelain (백자, Baekja) of the Joseon Dynasty. Gwangju was one of the key centers where royal kilns produced exquisite porcelain for the palace — elegant teapots, graceful vases, and delicate tableware. At the festival, you can step into history: admire antique ceramics, join traditional pottery workshops, enjoy live performances, and feel the royal spirit of the past.
Many events are outdoors — bring a hat or sunshade. Unique handmade ceramics by contemporary artists are available for purchase — a perfect souvenir!
