Things to Prepare

If you’re coming here for the first time, make sure to pack some clothes just in case the weather changes. It’s also a good idea to bring some snacks and water, since you might not come across many stores along the way. And because most of the sights are in mountainous areas, I really recommend wearing comfortable, sporty shoes.

About your trip

April 4–5, 2025 — together with amazing travel companions and wonderful organizers from funday.korea.networks, we spent an unforgettable weekend in the small town of Yeongju, first mentioned as far back as the 10th century. This is the city where Korea’s first Confucian school, Sosu Seowon, was established — now a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Buddhist temple of Puseoksa, founded during the Silla Kingdom, is also located here and is also on the UNESCO list. To wrap up the trip, we visited Sunheung, where we saw a faithful replica of the Sunheung Mural Tomb. It was an incredible experience to touch such ancient history with fantastic guides, fun contests, and comfortable accommodations at the Sobaeksan National Park Nature Center. It was a really great trip

TIP

Be prepared — it can get chilly, windy, or rainy in the mountains. If you’re going on your own, make sure to give yourself extra travel time, since all the places are pretty far from each other.
