About your trip

I hadn't planned on visiting the Eobang Festival 🎭 — I actually stumbled upon it by chance while exploring Busan. But looking back, it turned out to be the most interesting experience of my entire trip. This festival, held at Gwangalli Beach, isn’t something most tourists know about. It’s not as famous as other Korean festivals, but it offers such a unique and immersive cultural experience which is why you should definitely visit it, if you happen to be in Busan that time. 🎊 In my opinion, one of the best parts was the net-pulling event, where people work together to pull in large fishing nets, just like Korean fishermen used to do. 🎣 But there were plenty of other things to do too. You could try playing traditional Korean folk games, wear a Hanbok, and try some of Korea’s most popular foods. It was a great way to experience different aspects of Korean culture in one place. The highlight for me was the nighttime boat parade, where dozens of fishing boats lit up the sea with torches. 🔥 Also the very special Eobang drone show was an unforgettable experience. What I really loved about this festival is that it’s not just for adults—there’s something for everyone. Whether you want to participate in activities, watch performances, or just enjoy some fresh tteokbokki on the beach, there’s always something happening. 🏖 Plus, for tourists who want to learn more about Korean traditions beyond the usual sightseeing spots, this festival is a hidden gem.

TIP

It can be a little bit chilly in the evening, so make sure you take a jacket with you (the festival is only outdoors.) The net-pulling event takes place before the evening programs, so if you want to take part in it, you have to be there before sunset. Many activities are hands-on and much more fun when you join in. Even if you don’t understand Korean, the locals are welcoming and will help you if you have any questions, so don’t be shy :)
