Welcome to Gyeongju, the place that hosts 52 UNESCO sites. You’ll be surprise when you’ll arrive here too see that every building has a traditional roof, even the gas station. For me that’s what makes this place unique ! You must visit the Royal tombs of Daerungwon, which is an important part of the history because Gyeongju was the old capital of Silla kingdom. Here you can find the most important person who leads Korea centuries ago. This city is a real museum, you also need to see the oldest observatory of Asia : Cheomsongdae. (Fun fact : when we visited it, a drama scene was being filmed and you can also find this drama location in the 6th episode of « A good day to be a dog »). During the day you must see the bridge Woljeonggyo and Donggung, I think the best is to come before the sunset. We walked a lot and discovered the area, we had a lunch in a cute and really cheap place. We wanted to trust Korean local restaurants and it was wonderful 😍 we finished by visiting a small street food market before coming back home in Busan but the day after we went to visit Yangdong Folk village, so if you have the opportunity to stay 2 days instead of one, take your second day to visit this traditional village, an UNESCO world heritage. If you’re looking for traditional and cultural, it’s a must visit ! There’s almost no tourists and the area is really quiet. People here are really nice and it’s time to discover something else than Seoul !
Take some snacks and water to stay hydrated and have good shoes because you’ll walk a lot and don’t forget to take cash
