BUS, SUBWAY
Visiting the National Library of Korea was an incredible experience. Located at 201 Banpo-daero, Seocho-gu, Seoul, this library is a treasure trove for book lovers and researchers alike. Here’s a breakdown of my visit: • 5th Floor: Old & Rare Collection This floor houses old and rare books, genealogies, and other historical materials. Original old materials are available for same-day use upon a three-day advance request. I felt right at home here because I used to work at a rare book company. 😂 • 4th Floor: General Reading Room This floor offers open stacks of domestic monographs in humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences collected within the past two years. It’s also open late on Wednesdays until 21:00, making it a perfect spot for evening study sessions. • 3rd Floor: Research Information Services Designed exclusively for pre-approved researchers, this floor provides access to national research projects, monographs, journal articles, doctoral dissertations, and more. The services are extensive and cater to deep academic inquiries. • 2nd Floor: Literature Room The literature room is stocked with literary materials collected within the past two years. It’s a haven for anyone looking to dive into the latest in literary studies. • 1st Floor: Accessible Room for the Disabled This floor features electronic braille books, sign language video books, and various rental services for persons with disabilities. It’s a testament to the library’s commitment to accessibility. The library’s amenities, including a restaurant and convenience store on the first floor, add to the convenience and comfort of the visit. I highly recommend checking out this library if you’re in Seoul. The blend of historical depth and modern facilities makes it a unique and enriching destination.
Take the subway to 녹사평역 then get on bus num 740 to 서울지방조달청.서울성모. From here it’s an 8 minutes walk to the library.
