ABOUT TRIP The small and mystical Sommuido Island, known as the "Island of Little Dreams," lies off the western coast of Korea. It’s a place where reality and fantasy blend seamlessly, creating an unforgettable adventure for anyone who sets foot on its enchanted shores. Setting Out Our journey began at dawn, as the first light of day cast a golden glow over the tranquil waters of the Yellow Sea. We boarded a quaint, old-fashioned ferry that looked as if it had sailed straight out of a storybook. As we approached the island, the mist lifted, revealing Sommuido's lush greenery and rugged coastline. The scent of saltwater and pine trees filled the air, promising a day of adventure. Arrival As we stepped off the ferry, we were greeted by the island's guardian, a wise old fisherman named Jisoo. His face was weathered by years of sea breeze and sun, and his eyes sparkled with the knowledge of countless tales. Jisoo handed us a hand-drawn map of the island, each landmark annotated with cryptic symbols and mysterious notes. Exploring the Island We set up camp in a serene clearing near a freshwater stream, the perfect spot for our overnight stay. After pitching our tent and unpacking our gear, we set out to explore the island with our fishing rods in hand, guided by Jisoo's map. The island’s landscape was a mosaic of wonders. We passed through dense forests where the trees whispered ancient secrets, and meadows where wildflowers bloomed in colors more vivid than any we had ever seen. The air was alive with the chirping of exotic birds and the rustle of unseen creatures. The Enchanted Fishing Spot Following the map, we found a secluded cove on the island’s northern shore, reputed to be a magical fishing spot. According to local legend, this cove was home to the elusive Golden Carp, a fish said to grant a single wish to anyone who could catch it. The water was crystal clear, and we could see schools of fish darting about, their scales glinting in the sunlight. Casting our lines into the water, we felt an electric thrill of anticipation. The fish here were abundant and eager, biting almost immediately. As we fished, we shared stories and laughter, the day's adventures weaving into the fabric of our memories. The Golden Carp Just as the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting a fiery glow across the sky, I felt a powerful tug on my line. My heart raced as I reeled in my catch, and there it was—the Golden Carp. Its scales shimmered like molten gold, and its eyes held an otherworldly intelligence. With the carp in our hands, we made our wishes, each silently hoping for something deeply personal. True to the legend, as soon as our wishes were made, the carp slipped from our grasp and disappeared back into the depths, leaving us with a sense of wonder and fulfillment. Evening Campfire That night, we gathered around a crackling campfire, the island’s enchantment still lingering in the air. We cooked our catch, enjoying a feast of fresh fish under a canopy of stars. The island’s magic seemed to intensify as the night wore on, with the constellations twinkling brightly above and the gentle lapping of the waves providing a soothing soundtrack. Mystical Encounters In the flickering firelight, Jisoo shared tales of the island’s history—of ancient spirits, lost treasures, and the eternal bond between the island and the sea. His stories were mesmerizing, blurring the line between reality and myth. As he spoke, we could almost see the spirits dancing in the shadows and hear the whispers of the island's ancestors carried on the breeze. Departure As dawn broke, painting the sky in hues of pink and orange, we packed up our camp with a sense of bittersweet farewell. Boarding the ferry, we took one last look at Somuuido, now bathed in the soft morning light. The island had left an indelible mark on our hearts, its magic woven into our very beings. Reflections Our trip to Sommuido Island was more than just a fishing and camping adventure; it was a journey into a world where the ordinary became extraordinary, and dreams intertwined with reality. As we sailed back to the mainland, we carried with us not just the memories of our adventure, but the enchantment of Sommuido—a place where the spirit of wonder and the joy of discovery will forever reside.
